Detailed description of Prince William Golf Club

Prince William Golf Club is a Public 18 hole golf course located in Nokesville, Virginia.

Prince William golf course first opened for play in 1978.

Par for the course is 70. From the back tees the course plays to 6635 yards. The course rating is 72.1 and it has a slope rating of 125. From the forward tees the course measures 5595 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 12, a par-5 that plays to 605 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 6, a par-3 that plays to 135 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 12, a 605 yard par-5 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Prince William Golf Course is # 6, a 135 yard par-3.

Take a cart if you wish, but Prince William Golf Course offers a great course to play and to walk. There are some ups and downs along the way, but the knolls are gentle and the lies are rarely tricky. The majority of the fairways could be called wide open and generous, perfect for players of all levels.

# 6 is a very short par-3, 148 yards from the back and 101 from the front tees. You're going a little downhill to a medium-sized green. A bunker protects the entire front of the green. It's a pretty good hole even though it's fairly short.

# 9 is a par-4 for men and a par-5 for women, playing at 405 yards from the back and 336 from the forward tees. You'll need a downhill tee shot. Then you'll contend with a small creek running across the fairway. After that there's more trouble ahead. It's a difficult hole because the approach is all uphill. The green slopes from back to front with a bunker protecting the right side of the green. This is a tough hole even for better players.

#11 is an interesting par-3 measuring 245 yards from the back tees and 180 from the front. The green is sloped from back to front and right to left. You have to carry a large, wide creek to get to the green. The creek is really in play, especially from the back tees. A lot of players worry about making it to the green on the 11th due to the water and decide to lay up in front of the creek instead.

#12 is the longest hole (605 yards from the back and 450 from the forward tees). From the tee box all the way down the right hand side is out of bounds because of homes on that side. It's a big, big hole, a slight dogleg left to an elevated green with a bunker on the right front of the green. The 12th can be very difficult even allotting three shots to the green, in fact. Your second shot will be slightly uphill. There's about a 10- to 12-foot elevation change.

The 18th at Prince William Golf Course is a 408-yard par-4 (390 yards from the forward tees) that will test your nerve and leave you with a sense of accomplishment. It's a picturesque spot where you can see ponds and lakes as you eye the tree-lined fairway. Two large ponds are in play here and you have to carry them to get to the fairway. That water attracts a lot of balls. But cosmetically it's a really pleasing hole. It looks wide open, but it's really not. You get a warm and fuzzy feeling until you take your shot. But there's a big green on the finishing hole that is “user friendly." It has bunkers on either side, however.

Distances, ratings and slopes at Prince William: 6,635 yards (72.1/125); 6,238 yards (70.1/124); 5,595 (71.3/119).

Prince William Golf Course is a jewel in Northern Virginia. I have been playing there for over 40 years. Dan and Tracy make the check-in fast and enjoyable. However, I must complain about the incident that happened on September 8th 2022. I was playing with my usual group as I do almost every week. After our round of golf I returned to my car to unload my clubs and found that a tractor was parked behind my car and 3 other cars in our lane. I was able to pull forward over a parking barrier and able to exit my parking space. Just as I was driving away a man came running down and asked if I had removed the parking cone that was put where I had parked. I told him that I had not and then he tells me I am a liar. He didn’t say I think you are liar, he said “you are a liar buddy”. Now he didn’t explain how I was the one that removed the cone or out of the 14 cars in this parking lane I was the one to blame for removed the cone. Now I don’t know who this guy was or who his work release supervisor is, he just decided I was a liar. I can only believe that at my age of 76 he found someone he could bully. I have e-mailed the golf course with my complaint and have not received a reply, which is a little disturbing. I am now writing wherever I feel it will do the most good. I plan to play this golf course hopefully for another 5 years, but I won’t forget the slight I received. If this gentleman wants to call me a liar I guess there is nothing I can do about it now. I just hope this guy gets terminal jock itch.

I am a member of PWGC because it is reasonably priced for a 7 day membership including the cart. The Staff are WONDERFUL! They are always friendly and treat me with respect all the time. I retired this past year and now I only play golf EIGHT days a week or on days ending in "Y"! FORE

This is a fairly wide open course with very few flat spots on the greens. The condition of the course has gotten much better since the sprinkler system was repaired.
